Being tagged and tagging back
I learned something from Ina Silverio (http://allecoallende.blogs.friendster.com/my_blog/) today. She wrote, “A person who gets tagged must write in his or her blog ten weird things or habits or little known facts about himself or herself. He or she should also state this rule clearly. At the end of the blog entry, he or she should tag six other people, except the one who tagged him or her.”
Like Ina, Mong Palatino (http://mongpalatino.motime.com/) has tagged me. And he’s not ashamed to tell me he reads my blog. Bless him.
So, ten weird things about me:
1. I hate going out of the house in the morning without doing "number two." And I always have to have something to read, even old, torn newspapers;
2. I love putting mint ointments inside my nostrils—and I mean really inside and up there;
3. I hate condiments in small portions. And lots of lemon and chili, please;
4. I was about the only kid who went to our rural elementary school in shoes everyday. But I grew up hating wearing shoes;
5. A meal without soup is not really a meal for me;
6. I suck in every sport or game when I was growing up. But I was the best game annotator in town even when I was younger;
7. I have a huge stage fright, but there were times in the past I was a regular on current affairs TV shows, addressed Labor Day and Sona rallies and emceed lots of events (including uprisings);
8. I used to play with stiff pillow corners with my fingers to put myself to sleep. (My wife and mom made sure we only have soft-cornered pillows so I don’t do it as much anymore.);
9. I hate clutter but I am such a couch potato I keep putting off house cleaning duties;
10. There are more weird things about me but am not so brave to write them here.
Finally, I have to tag six other persons, excluding Mong. But unlike Motime, Friendster does not allow for a sidebar listing of links to my favorite bloggers. So it must be here:
a. Pom, my wife, who I honestly think writes better than I (http://queen_fisher.blogs.friendster.com/my_blog/);
b. Malcolm Roy Trevena, who’s a funny and profound bloke (http://www.crazymalc.co.nz/);
c. Ina Alleco Silverio, who as Mong wrote is so galing-galing (http://allecoallende.blogs.friendster.com/my_blog/);
d. Ilang-Ilang Quijano, who’s boyfriend will never be as good a writer (http://ilangq.wordpress.com/);
e. Sassy Lawyer, who first made me think there is something to blogging (http://houseonahill.net/index.php/blog);
f. And I leave this spot to all my friends (and, aherm!, fans) who tagged and read me but I can’t include because the list must end here.

See what's wrong in this sentence written by the creator of this bog:
"d. Ilang-Ilang Quijano, who’s boyfriend will never be as good a writer;"
A classic case of irony and arrogance, indeed. I rest my case.

You got me there, hules. But item d was an illustration of how high I regard Ilang's skills kumpara sa iyo.
I've always been thus with you. May nabago ba? Sa akin wala. Sa iyo, well, "I rest my case."
Pero judging sa iyong reaction, are you claiming to be as good a writer as Ilang?
Hahahaha!
What have you got to show as a body of written work?
Isa pa, is this a declaration of war, Jules?
Ikaw?

btw, it's 'B-L-O-G' not 'BOG'
idiot!
Tanga!

My comment was based on the merits (or demerits) of the sentence that you wrote.
I made that comment not to claim that I am as good a writer as Ilang because I never am.
That comment was made precisely to point out the irony of the sentence and the resulting arrogance impliedly manifested by the creator of this blog in writing that sentence.
That comment was motivated by the fact that only a person of great writing skills has the right to make such remark as stated in the sentence. Hence, the need to point out the irony of the sentence and the arrogance of the writer.
That comment was just that -- a comment, no more, no less. I never called you any names. I never labeled you with anything. I never insulted you and had no intention of insulting you.
It is you who called me names. It is you who labeled me. It is you who insulted me.
The things that I have said about that documentary created and produced by KODAO were made as honest comments by a viewer, from the perspective of a viewer. And the other things that I have said about it were simply said in jest.
I am not claiming that I am as good a writer as Ilang because I never am. That is the reason I humbly admit the typo error in the word "bog" which I mistakenly typed instead of the word "blog."
But who knows, "bog" is a British and Irish slang word for toilet.

I may look it to you, Jules, but I am not a complete idiot. And I felt it when I read your comment.
If I offended you in the past I expected you to tell me. "Sobra na 'yan." Kung hindi pa pumutok ito, hindi ko pa malalaman. Maraming salamat sa mga kaibigan.
Sabagay, I should not have mentioned you in those two blogs. Never mind that they were "in jest" or that I believed that was just how we were as friends. I should have erased them when I learned that some things have changed.
Sinadya ko talagang gumanti in like manner. Hindi rin ako nasiyahan gaano.
Pero 'wag mo na akong paikutin that you did not mean to insult me with that comment. I felt insulted.
Another thing, thank you for lecturing me that "bog" is slang for toilet. I haven't encountered that one yet, I must admit. What I know is that "bog" is wet earth of mostly peat and moss. I must ask our Irish and British volunteers about this. Dyahe! I was my technical and vocational high school's NCEE topnotcher pa naman.
Speaking of toilets, I recall someone who might have liked them so much he managed to lock himself in one.
Ilang linggo na lang. I do hope you top the bar so you have something to feel good about. At nang hindi kung sino-sino napagdidiskitahan mo.

It's funny how some people would resort to name-calling, labeling, outright insults, and ad hominem attacks when they are the ones being subjected to criticism.
Posted by: Jules | February 26, 2008 03:31 AM
hoy, tumigil na kayong dalawa. pareho kayong mayabang. at pareho kayong pikon. kaya nga kayo magkaibigan e. and don't bother responding, hindi ko kayo papatulan.

Indeed!
It's even funnier when people react that way when they are not being criticized at all!
